In this lesson we are going to looking at what Christians in the past have called “Eschatology.”

Studying Eschatology means we are looking at the Promise of Jesus Christ’s return and trying to understand the circumstances in the world when Jesus Christ returns. In this lesson, we are going to look at the promise of Jesus Christ’s return and seven things the Bible says we will see in the world when He returns.

The Promise of His Return

The first thing we want to look at is the Promise of His Return.

The reason Christians in the past have believed that Jesus Christ would return is because they found verses like this one in Acts 1:10-11 (ESV) which says after Jesus ascended into Heaven and disappeared from the view of his followers that “two men stood by them in white robes, and said Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into heaven? This Jesus who was taken up from you into heaven, will come again in the same way you saw Him go into heaven.”

This raises the question of what kind of place the world would be when Jesus Christ returns and I want to share with you seven things the Bible says about that in the rest of this lesson.

Discussion Questions:

#1. How often do you think about the return of Jesus Christ?

#1. All the Nations Will Hear the Gospel

The Bible offers a lot of information about what kind of place the world would be when the last generation of the Church will live in. The first thing I want to share about the last generation of the Church is found in Mark 13:10 (ESV):

“And the Gospel must first be proclaimed to all nations.”

This Bible verse tells us that the last generation of the Church will have a local Church organized under the Holy Spirit’s guidance in every ethnic group around the world. While we still have a lot of work to do in order to have a local Church set up in every ethnic group around the world, I expect this to be done within my lifetime.

Discussion Questions:

#1. How often to you pray asking God how you can help all of the nations hear the Gospel?

#2. Israel Will Reclaim Their Ancient Homeland

In the Old Testament we are told that the 12 tribes split up into two separate kingdoms. The Northern Kingdom was a group of 10 tribes, and the Southern Kingdom was a group of 2 tribes (along with the tribe of Levi) that was led by the House of David.

The Northern Kingdom was sent into exile by the Assyrian Empire, and the Southern Kingdom was sent into exile by the Babylonian Empire for the first time. The tribes of the Southern Kingdom were allowed to return only to be exiled permanently by Rome in 70 A.D.

In Isaiah 66:8 (ESV) the Bible says “Who has heard of such a thing? Who has seen such things? Can a nation be born in one day? Shall a nation be brought forth in one moment?”

On May 14, 1948 the Nation of Israel was born in one day, but not all of the tribes have returned to their ancient homeland on that day. While the Babylonian exile has ended and 3 tribes of the Southern Kingdom have returned, the Assyrian exile of the Northern Kingdom continues to this day.

“Thus says the LORD, I will take the people of Israel from the nations among which they have gone, and will gather them from all around, and bring them to their own land.” (Ezekiel 37:21 ESV)

I am not sure if the 10 tribes of the Northern Kingdom have returned yet, it is hard to find reliable information online about this. However God say this reunion would happen, and a lot of the recent American wars in the Middle East have allowed the Israeli government to locate the Ten Lost Tribes, most of them are still living in the cities where the Assyrians sent them into exile.

Discussion Questions:

#1. Have you ever studied what the Bible says about Israel’s return to their ancient homeland?

#2. Have you ever heard stories explaining why they keep winning every war Muslims start?

#3. The Third Temple in Jerusalem

In Revelation 1:1 (ESV) we are told the Book of Revelation was written to show “the things that must soon take place.” In Revelation 11:1-2 (ESV) the author of the book “was told, rise and measure the Temple of God.”

By the time the book of Revelation was written at the end of the first century, the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem had already been destroyed. The implication here is that the author of Revelation was told to “rise and measure” the Third Temple complex to be built in Jerusalem.

Jesus Himself told the first generation of the Church that the Temple that existed in the first century would be destroyed. In Matthew 24:1-2 (ESV) we are told that “Jesus left the Temple and was going away, when his disciples came to point out the buildings of the temple. But he answered them “You see all these, do you not? Truly I say to you there will not be left here one stone upon another that will not be thrown down.”

When his disciples asked when the Temple would be destroyed, they were told in Matthew 24:15 (ESV) that there would be an “abomination of desolation…standing in the holy place.”

That particular phrase “the abomination of desolation” was referring to a time when a pagan Emperor went into the Jewish Temple and sacrificed a pig on the altar. This type of event did not happen in the first century or any other time between now and then, but it will happen when the Third Temple is finished.

At the time I am writing this in June 2025 a High Priest has already been ordained in Israel. In addition to that all of the priestly robes described by Moses for Him to war have been made. They have also set up an altar in Jerusalem and they have already used it to perform the sacrifices described in Leviticus.

They already have copies of the Bronze Altar, the Golden Lampstand, the Table of Showbread, the Incense Altar and the Ark of the Covenant built and ready to be used in the Third Temple.

Discussion Questions:

#1. Did you know that Israel has everything ready to rebuild their Temple and restart their sacrifices?

#4. The Roman Empire Will Be Reborn

The last generation of the Church will see the return of the Roman Empire. In Revelation 12:3 (ESV) we are told that the Roman Empire “seemed to have a mortal wound, but its mortal wound was healed, and the whole earth marveled at they followed the beast.”

Just to be clear, I want to let you know that the beast mentioned in this verse that they followed was a civil government under the direct control of evil spirits who were enemies of God and The Gospel.

But what about the mortal wound that was healed? The Roman Empire suffered a mortal wound in 70 AD when they conquered Jerusalem and destroyed the Temple. In Genesis 12:3 (ESV) God said “I will bless those who bless you and him who dishonors you I will curse.”

Back towards the end of the first century, the Roman Empire “cursed” Israel by making them a nation without a homeland defined by secure borders, and God took an eye for an eye: eventually the Roman Empire lost control of their own borders.

But in May of 1948, when the nation of Israel was able to return to a small portion of their ancient homeland and to maintain secure borders global politics shifted and the Roman Empire began to re-establish their ancient borders in Europe as well.

The recent decision to allow Israel to return to their ancient homeland has allowed the “mortal wound” given to the Roman Empire back in the first century to begin healing. That healing process for the “mortal wound” has been a driving factor behind the international trade agreements put together by the Globalists who were basically working to rebuild the economy of the Old Roman Empire.

#5. The Endless Wars of Roman Culture

Within the United States of America, there has been a military industrial complex that is profiting from the endless wars. This use of warfare to make money was a cultural habit of the Old Roman Empire, and the United States of America was just a branch of Roman society in Europe.

When the settlers in America wanted relief from being taxed by England, they started a war and fought for their independence. That kind of behavior was how the Rome settled all of its disagreements. By the time the Roman Empire “cursed” Israel in 70 AD, England was already a part of the Roman Empire.

So the original group of immigrants who sailed from England to America were heirs to the legacy of Roman culture and its culture of using “endless wars” to settle every disagreement it had with foreign nations it did not control.

At the time I am writing this, the “endless wars” are being encouraged in America and other parts of the Old Roman Empire by the far left in politics. Politicians on the Far Left are also promoting three other things that were popular in the Roman Empire and are trying to make a comeback today: toxic feminism and gender equality, homosexuality, and the defense of people like Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell who were using children as sex slaves.

Discussion Questions:

#1. Did you ever see the connection between the “curse” of Genesis 12 and the Fall of Rome before?

#6. Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Robotics

Did you know that the Bible actually talks about Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Robotics?

It is kind of easy to miss this because the men who wrote the Bible did not have anything in their world to compare it to that would be familiar to a modern audience in the English speaking world of the year 2025, but let me show you where these topics and be found.

In Revelation 13:15-17 (ESV) the Bible says: “And it was allowed to give breath to the image of the beast, so that the image of the beast might even speak and might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain.

And it causes all, both small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slave to be marked on the right hand or the forehead, so that no one can buy or sell  unless he has the mark, that is, the name of the beast or the number of his name.”

Back in the first century, the “image of the beast” would have been an idol made out of stone or some kind of metal. Notice what happens here to the “image of the beast” – it was given a voice, and the place that leads to is where advanced robotics and artificial intelligence are moving.

Our scientists on the cutting edge of technology want to build machines that can move and speak and all of the research for this new industry is being paid for by the royal family of Saudi Arabia. The Islamic world has been the main investor in this new kind of industry so far.

We really are on the edge of living in a world where Artificial Intelligence and Advanced Robotics is going to be used to promote Islamic culture described in the Quran and the Muslim commentaries known as the Hadiths around the world.

I hope that scares you just a little, because in Revelation 13:15 (ESV) the Bible says that “the image of the beast” – which is being developed right now as a tool to promote Islamic culture around the world – “might cause those who would not worship the image of the beast to be slain.”

In Revelation 20:4 (ESV) we are told that “I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded by for the testimony of Jesus and the word of God, and those who had not worshipped the beast or its image and had not received the mark on their foreheads or their hands.”

The important thing I want you to notice is that people were being beheaded. Beheading is still used in Islamic culture today, and it is the preferred method of executing someone guilty of committing blasphemy under Islamic Law.

The simple reality is that Bible prophecy and modern technology seem to be crossing paths in a way that suggest Islam is going to conquer the world and use A.I. and advanced robotics to maintain the government they build to uphold Islamic Law and international trade.

Discussion Questions:

#1. Did you realize the wealth of the oil industry and the military industrial complex is going to allow Islam the money they need to conquer the world at some point in time?

#7. One World Religion

As we get closer to the return of Jesus Christ, we are going to see a return to the kind of religious ideals that were celebrated in Rome. Before its collapse, the Roman Empire had a policy of using civil government to promote two religious ideals that we will see begin to return as we get closer to Jesus Christ’s return. The first religious ideal was called syncretism and the second one was known as Emperor Worship.

Concerning Syncretism

Syncretism involved the indiscriminate mixing of elements from various religions that has previously been completely isolated from each other. When Augustus Caesar became the leader of the Roman Empire, he began promoting a form of religious pluralism.

What he did was encourage all of the different “mystery” religions to think that all of their secret ceremonies and rituals allowed them to serve the same set of “gods.” To reference something that I saw on a bumper sticker, Augustus Caesar thought they should all “Co Exist.”

In that culture of co-existence, the Bible gives us the following warning of what to expect within that culture of co existence in Mark 13:22 (ESV): “for false christs and false prophets will arise and perform signs and wonders, to lead astray, if possible the elect.”

At the time I am writing this in June 2025, I encountered this recently online. In the last month or so a man appeared on the Internet making videos claiming that all of the Christians, Jews and Muslims around the world owed him their allegiance.

From what I have heard about it, he admits that his followers are able to use their spiritual power(s) to kill anyone who opposes them, and they claimed that they had cursed the Pope to death and claimed victory over him when he died.

We are going to be seeing a lot more of this in the world as we get closer to the return of Jesus Christ.

Discussion Questions:

#1. Has your time in Church prepared you for the challenges that syncretism presents to the local Church in the English speaking world? (Why or why not?)

#2. Has your time in Church helped you prepare others for the challenges that syncretism presents to the local Church in the English speaking world? (Why or why not?)

Concerning Emperor Worship

Now we can talk about Emperor Worship. In Rome, there used to be a “Cult of the Emperor.” Its members would say “Caesar is Lord” and they believed the “gods” would bring peace and prosperity into their lives in exchange for their loyalty.

The Cult of the Emperor has already returned to Western civilization in America and Europe, on the left and right sides of politics. Here are three examples for you:

The first example was President Obama and his “change” of a far left agenda. The second example was the MAGA movement’s loyalty to Trump. The third example was Biden stealing the election with help from China and the FBI along with the news media hiding the fact that he was literally losing his mind and other people had to make all of his policy decisions for him.

This is what the “Cult of the Emperor” looks like.

Discussion Questions:

#1. Have you seen the “Cult of the Emperor” in how people on the left and the right think about politics before? (Why or why not?)

Conclusion

We have spoken about some very serious and sobering things in this lesson. I want to close by reminding you that Jesus Christ is coming soon to set up a new Kingdom. The Kingdom of Heaven that he is going to introduce into human history when he comes back will not have any of the problems we discussed in this lesson.

So Come Quickly Lord Jesus, we need you. Amen.
