he Seventh Task of the Teachers involves developing a deeper understanding of how the choices we make today influence what is waiting for us when our lives on earth are over.

The doctrinal issues involved in the Seventh Task of the Teacher cover chapters 42 and 54 through 57 of Wayne Grudem’s theology book. If you want to help people in your area gain a deeper understanding of these issues, then I have a book that can help you.

Here are the doctrines involved in the Seventh Task of the Teacher.

I. Glorification

“Glorification is the final step in the application of redemption. It will happen when Christ returns and raises from the dead the bodies of all believers for all time who have died, and reunites them with their souls, and changes the bodies of all believers who remain alive, thereby giving all believers at the same time perfect resurrection bodies like his own.” (Wayne Grudem)

There will also be a moment when those who have not believed the Gospel will be given new bodies, and the Seventh Task of the Teacher involves helping new believers gain a deeper understanding of what those bodies will be for.

Here are seven doctrines that deal with what our bodies are for.

II. Death For The Unbeliever

Death is the event that guarantees a person’s eternal destiny is settled and cannot be changed (see Hebrews 9:27). When someone dies without believing the Gospel, God will send that person to Hell for rejecting the forgiveness available in Jesus Christ.

III. Life in Hell

People were made in the image of God, and there are evil spirits working to destroy God’s attempts to create a pure image of Himself in our lives as a result of the Gospel.

When a person who rejects the Gospel dies, he or she will descend into Hell, and God’s enemies are allowed to inflict any kind of pain and suffering they can image on the people who end up there.

If you want to know what the suffering is like, then I have a video for you to watch.

IV. The Great White Throne Judgment

Hell is where people suffer under Satan’s wrath against the image of God, but the wrath of God against sin is a completely different matter. God’s wrath against sin will come when human history is over.

After the Great White Throne, all of the people suffering Satan’s wrath against the image of God in mankind who are in Hell right now, will one day suffer with Satan under God’s wrath against sin after the Judgment because they chose not to follow God’s instructions given in the Gospel.

See Revelation 20:11-15.

V. Life in Heaven

The Bible presents Heaven as a place where God will meet all of our needs:

“Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.” (Revelation 21:1-4 ESV)

VI. The Bema Judgment

God wants to rescue people from Hell. The goal of Discipleship is learning how to cooperate with God’s attempts to rescue people.

Every time the Church does something that allows God to rescue someone, there will be a reward given, and every time the Church does something that prevents God from rescuing someone, a opportunity to gain a reward will be lost.

“He will render to each one according to his works: to those who by patience in well-doing seek for glory and honor and immortality, he will give eternal life; but for those who are self-seeking and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, there will be wrath and fury.

There will be tribulation and distress for every human being who does evil, the Jew first and also the Greek, but glory and honor and peace for everyone who does good, the Jew first and also the Greek. For God shows no partiality.” (Romans 2:6-11 ESV)

If you want to hear more about how this works, I have found a series of 8 videos that explain it, and I have posted a playlist from YouTube with all 8 of them here for you.

VII. The Return of Jesus Christ

“And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.” (Revelation 22:12 ESV)

And then we will be with the Lord forever.

Come Quickly Lord.

Amen.
